BANGOR, Maine — A local transient is facing a felony charge after making threats to harm his ex-girlfriend, police said.
Jason Averill, 34, had contacted the woman and was demanding that she drop criminal charges against him for a prior domestic violence report, according to Bangor police Sgt. Cathy Rumsey.
Part of Averill’s demands indicated he was going to harm the woman if she didn’t drop the charges, Rumsey said.
Details on the previous domestic violence report weren’t available.
Police found Averill on Oct. 30 and arrested him. He was charged with tampering with a victim, a Class B felony, and terrorizing, a Class D misdemeanor, Rumsey said. He remained at Penobscot County Jail Wednesday.
