KENNEBUNK, Maine — A Maine Turnpike service plaza has been reopened after it closed early Wednesday morning in response to a bomb threat, officials said.
The threat was reported at the Kennebunk Service Plaza in the southbound lanes at 7:15 a.m., according to Maine Turnpike Authority Spokesman Dan Morin.
State troopers immediately responded and the service plaza was evacuated, according to Morin. Police also closed the southbound off-ramps.
A state police canine unit trained in detecting explosive devices performed a sweep of the building, and no explosive devices were found.
The service plaza and off-ramp reopened shortly after 9 a.m., Morin said.
