HOULTON – Shirley Varney Martin, 89 died Nov. 10, 2013 at her home with her children by her side. She was born May 16, 1924 at Millinocket, the daughter of Walter C. and Bertha (Carr) Varney.
Shirley was a 74 year member of the Military Street Baptist Church joining in 1939. She always enjoyed times with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by two sons, Gary and Beth of Shapleigh, Brent and Shelley of Houlton two daughters, Ann Anderson of Houlton and Jane Martin of Kittery, one brother, Hillis Varney, sister Edith Walton, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, LeRoy (Alton) Martin, two brothers, Clayton and Kenneth Varney, two sisters, Madeline Connors and Vivian Elleiott Robertson and her son-in-law, Joseph Anderson.
