MOOSE RIVER – Ernest R. Parent Sr. passed away Nov. 11, 2013. He was born Dec. 8, 1922, in Schroeder, Minn.
He enlisted in the Marine Corps and served in Saipan during World War II. On returning from his service to our country, he married Mary Rena Fournier his loving wife of 67 years. He worked as a Supervisor of Transportation for school districts on Long Island, N.Y. He is a life long third degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid outdoorsman, who especially enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Ernest was predeceased by his parents, Ray and Jeanne Parent; his son, Kevin Parent; and a granddaughter, Brooke Giroux. He is survived by his wife, Mary Rena (Fournier) Parent of Maine; six children, daughter, Brenda and spouse, Kenneth Meyer, of New York; daughter, Linda and spouse, John Welsch, of Maryland; daughter, Gail Stevenson of Maine; son, Ernest Parent Jr. and spouse, Eileen, of Pennsylvania; son, Stephen Parent and spouse, Elaine, of Michigan; daughter, Patricia and spouse, Daryl Giroux, of Maine; and also his 17 grandchilden and 23 great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be held at a later date in the spring, date and time will be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to St. Faustina Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 457, Greenville, ME 04441-0457.
