BATH and EAST MILLINOCKET – Clara Matangelo Paoletti, 93, passed away at CHANS Hospice of Brunswick on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013. Clara was born Sept. 14, 1920, in Millinocket, the daughter of Michael and Mary (Cianchette) Matangelo.
Clara grew up in Millinocket, graduating from Stearns High School, class of 1938. In 1946 she married Louis “Sam” Paoletti in Millinocket and lived in Madison, South Portland, and finally returning to East Millinocket in 1958. She was a Legal Secretary for many years for Attorney Wakine Tanous, and was a member St. Ann’s Circle of the Daughters of Isabella. After retirement, they moved to Hampden. After Sam’s death, she returned to Millinocket and then to an assisted living home in Bath. Clara was an avid reader, master bridge player and loved to golf and bowl with Sam. She was also a whiz at crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She was so proud of all of her grandchildren and loved to hear about everything that they were doing in their lives.
Clara is survived by son, Michael and wife, Claudia, of Hampden; daughters, Louise Morang and husband, Bob, of Readfield, and Mary Nadeau of the Villages, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Lisa Leighton of Cape Elizabeth, Allison Talon of Portland, Mary Paoletti of Somerville, Mass., Alicia Provencher of Merrimak, N.H., Dominic Paoletti of Windham; Angela Stancil of Arnold, Md., and Anna Nadeau of Palm Bay, Fla.; eight great-grandchildren, Matthew, Laura, Hannah, Sarah, Evangeline, Andrew, Paul, and Noah; sister, Helen Beaulieu of Cape Elizabeth; sister-in-law, Helen Matangelo of Smithfield, R.I.; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Diana Selee. In addition to her parents, Clara was predeceased by her husband; three sisters, Anna Matangelo, Eunice Matangelo, and Florence Hersey and husband, Charles; two brothers, Chet Matangelo and John Matangelo; son-in-law, Paul Nadeau; and brother-in-law, Omer Beaulieu.
There will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church of Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, 58 Cedar St., East Millinocket, with the Rev.
