Grant to land trust
BANGOR — The Woodard and Curran Foundation has made a $2,500 grant to Bangor Land Trust to replace a bridge across a small stream and construct educational kiosks on its North Penjajawoc Forest Preserve.
North Penjajawoc Forest is a 100-acre parcel abutting the Bangor City Forest to the northeast, and across the Bangor Hydro transmission line from Northeast Penjajawoc Forest to the southwest.
Trails on North Penjajawoc Forest can be accessed from both Northeast Penjajawoc Forest, off Kittredge Road, and from Bangor City Forest.
Together with the trail complex at the Bangor City Forest and the Orono Bog Boardwalk, the many miles of interconnecting trails on Bangor Land Trust preserves are an important city amenity and have helped Bangor win national recognition as a good place to live.
The land trust welcomes visitor comments and photos. Email them to info@bangorlandtrust.org.
Those who wish to volunteer to help with trail maintenance may contact the Bangor Land Trust at 942-1010 or by email.
Summer camp program
BANGOR — Thousands of Marden’s customers throughout Maine participated in the annual Marden’s Summer Camp Mobile program. The campaign benefits the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Maine and allows the local office to host the “best week of the year” at Camp Waban in Sanford for children who live with muscle disease.
The Summer Camp Mobile campaign centers on $1 and $5 mobiles that customers can buy and sign. The mobiles are displayed on ceilings and walls, helping to decorate stores and create a Summer Camp atmosphere.
