PRESQUE ISLE – Mildred Spooner, 85 passed away early Sunday morning Nov. 24, 2013 at a Caribou health care facility. She was born May 4, 1928 in Beaconsfield, N.B., Canada, the daughter of Witmore and Pauline (Fox) Hammond.
She worked as a cook at Cunningham school, worked at Taterstate Foods in Washburn, and then as a librarian at Cunningham school for six years.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, George Spooner of Houlton, two sons and their wives, Donnie and Melanie Spooner of Houlton, Scott and Teresa Spooner of Ashland; two daughters, Connie Driscoll and her husband, Norman of Presque Isle, Marcia Munson and her friend, Ray Parks of Eagle Lake; 10 grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with Rev. James Ackerson officiating. Interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery.
