HOULTON – Kenneth (Frenchie) Paradis, 84, died Nov. 23, 2013 at a local health care facility. He was born Dec. 14, 1928, at Eagle Lake, the son of Placid and Leona (Perrow) Paradis.
Ken was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church, was a member and top bowler at both the Houlton Lodge of Elks and the Meduxnekeag Club, where he was picked to bowl in many Eastern Maine Bowling Tournaments, an avid golfer at Houlton Community Golf Club and was ready for a card game at just about anytime day or night. He also was a member of the Teamsters Union. He was employed with Houlton Truck, then many years with Cole’s Express, where he was inducted into the Million Mile Club. After retiring, Frenchie cut, split and sold many cord of fire wood throughout the Greater Houlton Area and also worked with the FA Peabody Company right into his eighties.
Ken is survived by his wife, Velma (Grendell) Paradis of Houlton, one son, K. Alan Paradis and his wife, Kathy of Montville; six daughters, Diana MacDonald and partner, David Peabody, Beverly and Terry Nason of Houlton, Janet and Bruce Warman of Linneus, Karen Paradis of Houlton, Carla and Stephen Griffin of Hodgdon, Lori and Mitchell Holmes of Houlton; two brothers, Donald and Placid, both of Connecticut; 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by several very close friends. The family would like to send a special thank-you to Dr. Aboulish and the staff at Madigan Estates. He was predeceased by his parents, one brother, Robert and six sisters, Margaret Aportia, Juliette Perreault, Nellie Garrity, Priscilla Wilson, Leona Chapdelaine and Mildred Paradis.
