PRESQUE ISLE – Edith O. Collins, 86, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, at the Aroostook Health Care Center in Mars Hill. Edith was born Aug. 3, 1927, in St. Agatha, the daughter of William and Amanda (Cyr) Dufour.
Edith worked for many years as a sales clerk for Zayre’s Department Store. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabella.
Edith is survived by her children and their spouses, Jerry and Jackie Collins of Terryville, Conn., Michael and Linda Collins of Westfield, James Collins and his friend, Susan, of Manchester, Conn., Cecile and Arthur Wood of Presque Isle, Sister Lena Collins O. Carm of Lacombe, La., Lisa and Stephen Ives of Hampstead, N.H., and Tina and Curtis Wood of Vassalboro; her stepbrother and his wife, Lionel and Bernice Ouellette of Madawaska; and her sister-in-law, Lorraine Dufour of St. Agatha. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Fernand Collins; her parents, William Dufour and Amanda (Cyr) Hebert; brother, Maxime Dufour; and sister, Cecile Dufour.
Friends and family may call 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, at Duncan Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Parish of the Precious Blood, with the Rev. Raymond Morency, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle. The family wishes to thank all the doctors and staff at the Aroostook Health Center for all their excellent care given to Edith.
