NEW YORK CITY – Wallace J. Lagasse, 86, passed away peacefully of natural causes, in his sleep on Dec. 3, 2013, at his home in Woodside, Queens, N.Y. He was born June 30, 1927, in Connor Township, the son of the late Paul and Evangeline “Eva” (Damboise) Lagasse.
After being honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy, Wallace “Wally” had a long career with British Airways, joining the airline in October of 1952 when it was known as BOAC. He traveled extensively during his 36 year career, enjoying trips to Europe and the Caribbean, flying on propeller planes and eventually on the Concorde, retiring in March of 1988.
He is survived by his cousin, Gilford Damboise and his wife, Rachael, of Connecticut, their two children and grandchildren, along with many caring friends.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, from the Parish of the Precious Blood, Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with Father Jean-Paul Labrie officiating.
