TOPSHAM, Maine — A head-on collision on Route 196 on Sunday afternoon claimed the life of an Auburn woman, police said.

Salima Nuh, 37, was headed eastbound when her vehicle was struck head-on by Robert Robitaille, 52, of Lisbon, Topsham police Sgt. Robert Ramsay said.

Robitaille, who was heading westbound, apparently fell asleep at the wheel and drifted into the eastbound lane, Ramsay said.

Nuh, who was also pregnant, was pronounced dead at the scene while Robitaille was treated at Parkview Adventist Medical Center in Brunswick and released.

The crash remains under investigation.
