BUCKSPORT – Robert W. Gray, 73, passed away Dec. 12, 2013, due to complications from pneumonia. He was born April 20, 1940, in Castine, the son of Norman and Annie (Dunbar) Gray. Robert had been in ill health for several years.
He was a graduate of Bucksport High School. He was employed at International Paper for 38 and a half years. He also hauled gravel and built driveways and lawns for many years. He was a member of Felicity Lodge A.F. & A.M. No. 19 and the Shriner’s. He was road commissioner on Verona Island for five years. He was also a member of the Highway Legends car club, owning a 1931 Model-A Ford.
He is a survived by his wife, Sharon (Leighton) Gray of 48 years; his much loved son, Billy and his wife, Lisa, and special grandson, Cody all of Verona; his brother, Charles Gray; a special niece, Lorretta Quellette and her husband, Jerry; along with many other nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Mabelle Gray; and many special lifelong friends. He was predeceased by his parents; twin sister, Betty; sister, Emma Gray; and brother, Sam Gray.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Mitchell Tweedie Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. Visiting hours will be preceding the service from 10-11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bucksport Animal Shelter, P.O. Box C-1, Bucksport, ME 04416.
