LINCOLN – Robert Oland Cole, 87, husband of the late Martha (Lancaster) Cole and the late Gladys (Clifford) Johnson Cole, died Dec. 16, 2013, at his home. He was born Feb. 17, 1926, in Lincoln, the son of Oland M. and Agnes C. (Bowker) Cole.
Robert enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with family, going to basketball games, and listening to music. One of his favorite pastimes was riding the old back roads. He will miss snow blowing his driveway with his neighbor, Aaron Johnston.
He is survived by a daughter, Roxanne Springer and her companion, Myron Braddock; a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Cole Nelson; five grandchildren, Carmen Currier, Martha Currier, Jason Cole, Eric Cole, and Ellen Cole Slattery; great-grandchildren, Morgan McGaw, Macie St. Pierre, Emilie and Lauren Dow, Jacob and Ana Cole, Cole, Allyson and Brooke Haley; stepchildren, Vaughn Johnson, Sheila Leighton and David Johnson; stepgrandchildren, Wade Johnson, Melissa Carlson, Angela Arthers, Andrea Bernardi, Leslie Neal, Wayne Leighton, Elizabeth Watts, Keri Johnson and Cindy Johnson; and numerous great-stepgrandchildren and great-great-stepgrandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Martha; second wife, Gladys; a brother, Roger Cole; a sister, Colleen Tripp; son, Douglas Cole; and granddaughter, Deanna.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Darrell Joiner officiating.
