MEDWAY – Michael LeGassey, 59, passed away Dec. 18, 2013, after a long illness. He was born Nov. 28, 1954.
He graduated from Stearns High School in 1973. Mike worked for Plourde’s for a few years and then for Great Northern Paper Company for a short time. He enjoyed living at the family cottage in Grindstone with his favorite cat, Sasha. “Hector” was happiest when he was out on the ice in a hut ice fishing, or “fiddleheadin” up by the mountain or watching his Philadelphia Eagles play football on Sundays. His quick wit and sense of humor will be missed by all.
Mike was predeceased by his father, Roger Hector LeGassey; and brother-in-law, Lee Smith. He is survived by his mother, Alphena LeGassey of Millinocket; his three sisters, Deborah Smith from Briarcliff, Texas, Celia and her husband, John Brunette, from North Andover, Mass., and Ann and her husband, Wade Duplisea, from Glenburn; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Per Michael’s request there will be a spring burial at the Millinocket Cemetery. Arrangements are being made by Lamson’s Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. Those who wish may make donations in Mike’s memory to the Katahdin Area Support Group, P.O. Box 374, Millinocket, ME 04462. Messages of condolence may be expressed at www.lamsonfh.com.
