CUTLER – Lawrence Asa Sheriden ,80, left this life Dec. 18, 2013, at a Machias hospital during another bout with congestive heart failure and pneumonia. A lifelong resident of Cutler he was born Sept. 26, 1933, the son of the late Gilbert and Dorothy (Littlefield) Sheridan.
He worked fishing and clamming in his early years, followed by many years as a carpenter. He loved to be in the woods with his jitney, tinker on projects, and tend his garden. Always willing to lend a hand. Asa also loved giving out hugs.
He is survived by his wife, Barabara “Nellie” (Hall) Sheridan; brothers, Gilbert of Machias, Neil of Cutler, and Roger of Bryant, Texas; sisters, Shirley Innis of Newburyport, Mass., Esther Auer of West Bend, Wis., Elizabeth Harmon of Pembroke, and Barbara Donovan of Amesbury, Mass.; also sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews, and their families. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant sister, Lorraine; and two brothers, Randall and Eugene.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at Bay Ridge School, Cutler, with Pastor John Sprague officiating. Burial at New Cutler Cemetery will be announced at a later date.
