UNION – Gail K. Whittier, 68, passed away peacefully Dec. 19, 2013 at home in Union surrounded by her daughter, Cheryl and her son-in-law, Bruce. Gail was born March 19, 1945 to Stephen and Laura Storer Kirkpatrick in Rockland.
She grew up there, and lived there all of her life. She graduated from Union High School in the class of 1963. She married Bob Whittier, Oct. 12, 1963. Gail was a school bus driver for SAD 40 for 45 years starting in 1968 and retiring in 2013. Gail transported three generations of kids during her career. She and her husband started the Winter Wind Farm in the late 1970’s on the Overlock Hill Road in Union. Gail enjoyed gardening and working at Union Agway.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Whittier. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Dawson and her husband, Bruce of Jefferson, a grandson, Derek Dawson of Readfield; two brothers, Gary Kirkpatrick of Augusta, and Richard Kirkpatrick of Union; a sister, Jada Beardsley of Union.

A service to celebrate Gail’s life was held Sunday, Dec. 22, at Union Elementary School, 1070 Heald Highway, Rt. 17, Union. Burial will be held in the spring at Lakeview Cemetery, Union.
