ASHLAND, Maine — Four Ashland Community High School students have been summoned on drug possession charges after three of them were caught smoking marijuana in a school bathroom, according to local police.

Police were called to the school on Thursday and, when the three students caught in the bathroom were questioned, they implicated a fourth, who allegedly was trafficking the marijuana, Ashland Police Chief Cyr Martin said Friday. All of the students were 16 years old or younger, according to the chief.

All four, whose names could not be released because of their ages, were summoned for possession of scheduled Z drugs. One also was summoned for trafficking in scheduled Z drugs.

“We really can’t release too many additional details at this point because they are juveniles,” Martin said of the ongoing investigation. “But we are still looking into it and there will be other charges if there are additional people involved.”
