PORTLAND, Maine — No arrests have been made yet in a shooting near Sangillo’s Tavern early Tuesday morning.

Portland police had not announced an arrest in the case as of early Wednesday evening.

Lt. James Sweatt of the Portland Police Department said in a Tuesday morning news release that officers received a report of gunshots near the 18 Hampshire St. location just before 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. There, they found a 24-year-old Portland man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to Maine Medical Center and was treated for what Sweatt called “serious injuries” at the time. The victim was in stable condition in the hours after the apparent attack.

Police have not released the name of the victim, the relationship between the victim and whoever shot him, or any other details about what they believe transpired.

Portland NBC television affiliate WCSH 6 reported that police impounded a dark-colored car from the scene.
