HERMON – Linnet Archer, 99, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Oct. 25, 1914, in Olivet, Pa., the daughter of Daniel I. and Mary L. (Kunkle) Shearer.
Linnet was a longtime resident of Hermon, having resided on the New Boston Road since 1946. She was also the receiver of the Boston Post Cane, awarded by the town of Hermon for being the oldest citizen several years ago.
She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Vinal Archer; and her oldest son, Allan Archer. Linnet is survived by her three remaining children, Sylvia Chase of Levant, Keith Archer of Glenburn, and Darrell of Vallejo, Calif.; eight grandchildren and a special grandson, Michael Archer, whom she raised; and six great-grandchildren.
