OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine — The Maine Department of Environmental Protection went to West Tioga Street on Sunday morning after a report that “a large volume of kerosene” had leaked into the wetlands.

Old Orchard Beach Fire Department personnel were notified about 11 a.m. that kerosene had leaked from an old tank in a home and been carried by stormwater into the nearby wetlands, according to Chandler Green, a firefighter and EMT.

Early Sunday afternoon, crews continued to use an absorbent boom to attempt to contain the kerosene.

No further information was immediately available.
