BANGOR, Maine — Husson University has announced that David Diaz, a 5-foot-10 guard, has committed to play for the Eagles this fall.
Diaz was the starting point guard at Christopher Columbus High School in Miami, where he helped lead his team to an 18-7 overall record, averaging 11 points and five assists per game. Diaz shot 40 percent from the 3-point line and 75 percent from the foul line.
“David will make an impact on our program next season. He changes games with his speed and knocks down [3-pointers],” said Husson head coach Warren Caruso said in a news release.
During preseason, Diaz was featured in RMF Magazine as one of the 16 high school seniors to watch in South Florida. He also received the Gold Cup Award as a Top 30 Hispanic Athlete in South Florida.
“David has played a very high level of basketball and will bring a very competitive mentality to our program,” Caruso added.
Diaz joins Bangor High School’s Connor Adams in Husson’s 2014 recruiting class.
Husson is coming off its best season under Caruso, posting a 26-3 record. The Eagles lost to SUNY Plattsburgh in the first of the NCAA Division III Championship.
