MATTAWAMKEAG, Maine — Waters along the Mattawamkeag River have receded to a point where the National Weather Service has canceled flood warnings.

The weather service canceled the warnings for the river in northern Penobscot County shortly before 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The river’s stage was at 14.5 feet Tuesday morning, according to the weather service.

Water levels are expected to remain high for several days but flooding is not expected.
