ELLSWORTH, Maine — A Trenton man is facing new charges after local police determined he may have stolen more from his employer than they had previously thought.
Brian Adaska, 32, was charged with felony theft in April after the owner of Mill Mall Furniture accused him of using a credit card issued to the store to make $5,758.80 in unapproved purchases. Adaska was manager of the store, which is now shut down.
Police learned while that alleged theft was being investigated that Adaska also may have stolen nearly $6,000 worth of furniture from the business, Ellsworth police Detective Dotty Small said Friday. She said Adaska obtained $5,997.80 worth of furniture under the pretense of using a discount employee purchase plan but allegedly paid no money for it.
Between the alleged credit card misuse and theft of furniture, Adaska is accused of stealing $11,756.60 from the business.
Adaska is due to appear in court in Ellsworth on June 17 on the alleged credit card charges and on July 22 for charges stemming from the alleged theft of furniture.
