SACO, Maine — A 42-year-old man was arrested Monday morning after allegedly pointing a gun at his girlfriend, according to police.

According to a press release from Saco Deputy Chief Jeffrey Holland, the woman told police that Jamison E. Snyder, of Saco, had prevented her from leaving their apartment after an argument.

Later in the day, the release said, “the victim fell asleep and when she awoke, Snyder was pointing a black handgun in her face and told her to ‘get out of the apartment.’”

Police set up surveillance of the residence on Sunday, but it was unknown if he was still in the apartment or if he had left, Holland said in the release. On Monday morning, police saw Snyder get into a taxi. They followed the cab while awaiting backup officers, then stopped Snyder on Elm Street in Biddeford.

Snyder was taken into custody without incident shortly before 8 a.m. and charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, Holland said. Snyder has a 2007 conviction for unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs.

Bail was set at $2,000 and Snyder was brought to the York County Jail. No injuries were reported in the incident.
