BANGOR, Maine — Maine Department of Transportation crews will be shutting down both northbound lanes of Interstate 95 on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

The lanes will be closed from Hammond Street to Broadway, from 9 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday and again from 9 p.m. Thursday through 5 a.m. Friday, according to Dana Wardwell, the city’s director of public works.

Detour signs marking the route to get back onto the interstate will be posted.

Maine Department of Transportation is replacing the Union Street I-95 overpass in a 2½-year project that has shut down access from surrounding side streets and closed two lanes of the bridge.

This is the first of several expected interstate shutdowns during the course of the project.
