GARDINER, Maine — Two men are facing child pornography charges after separate arrests in Gardiner and Fairfield last week, state police said.

Barry Williams, 59, of Gardiner was arrested on Friday while Thomas Williams, 68, of Fairfield was taken into custody on Thursday, state police spokesman Stephen McCausland said.

The men are not related, McCausland said.

Both men were charged with possessing sexually explicit material of someone under the age of 12, McCausland said, and both arrests transpired after the men’s computers were examined by the Maine State Police Computer Crime Unit.

None of the images depicted children from Maine, McCausland said.

Thomas Williams was released on bail from the Fairfield police station after his arrest while Barry Williams was brought to the Kennebec County Jail in Augusta.
