Fundraiser for theater group will feature Brewer High School alumni|
BREWER — Inspirational speaker and Brewer High School alumni Michael J. Chase will speak on “Survival of the Kindest: How Living From Your Heart Can Save Your Life” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, at Brewer Performing Arts Center.
Chase will share stories from his past and explain how a family history of violence, substance abuse, depression and suicide inspired him to dedicate his life to a mission of kindness.
Chase believes that the world we live in, fast paced and technology driven, has caused us to lose some of our natural human traits such as kindness, compassion, patience and gratitude. He suggests that the time has come for a complete revolution of the heart.
During his lecture, Chase will discuss the benefits of adopting kindness as a way of life. “By learning to fully open our hearts and overcome the obstacles which create unkind behavior, we discover the pathway to positive relationships, inner peace and especially global harmony,” Chase said.
The talk is a benefit for Brewer Youth Theatre, a program at Brewer High School. Nineteen theater group students have been invited to the 2015 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the world’s largest theater festival. The students will tour England and Scotland, and perform four times. The students must raise $120,000 to make the two-week trip. More information can be found at facebook.com/bytfringefestival.
Tickets are $10, $5 students and senior citizens. Tickets may be purchased at brewerperformingarts.com. Information about Chase is at michaeljchase.com.
