HOULTON, Maine — A Houlton man and woman were charged with trafficking in methamphetamine after police discovered Friday what they suspect to be an operation for manufacturing the drug in a single-family home.
Bryan Clark, 25, and Ashley Eastham, 22, were charged Friday with Class B trafficking in Schedule W drugs, according to Maine State Police.
Maine Drug Enforcement Agency officers were dispatched to the home Friday after Houlton Police responded to an unrelated incident and discovered the suspected meth operation, state police spokesman Stephen McCausland said earlier.
Houlton police evacuated the occupants and secured the house. The fire department also responded as a precaution.
Based on information provided by Houlton Police, an MDEA investigator obtained a warrant to search the home. MDEA agents found and seized various evidence consistent with meth manufacturing operations, the agency reported.
Officials with the Maine Department of Health and Human Services were notified because three young children were in the house at the time the suspected meth lab was discovered.
The MDEA was assisted by Houlton Police, the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department and other agencies.
