BATH, Maine — Bath police said Monday that a home invasion and assault in a High Street home last week were likely part of an isolated incident and they are not concerned about a threat to the general public.
Early Wednesday morning, a High Street man reported to police that his girlfriend had awoken to a man standing over her bed who then punched her in the face.
The 30-year-old victim drove herself to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick with what Bath police Lt. Robert Savary described as injuries that were not life-threatening.
The man apparently broke into the house, Savary said, but nothing was taken.
“We believe we have a good handle on the motive behind it, and as such, we think this is an isolated incident,” Savary said. He declined to discuss the possible motive, and said no suspect has been identified.
Still, police on Monday continued to seek information about the man’s identity.
He is described as approximately 17 to 23 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 9 inches, a “thin, athletic build” at approximately 180 pounds, with olive-colored skin, dark black eyebrows and dark eyes.
The man was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with no visible logo.
