WELLS, Maine — Police in Wells are looking for a thief who’s allegedly been stealing bottles and cans from a local charity.
The Branch Community Hall was built back in 1861, and people donate cans and bottles to the local organization that cares for the building. However, for about a year, a man, captured by a motion camera, is believed to be the person stealing the donated cans and bottles.
“Pretty soon he started getting smarter,” said Joe Searles of the Wells Grange Community League. “He would sneak around up where the camera was, and he had some painter’s blue tape, and he’d cover the lens and clean us out, and off he’d go. … I think he’s making a game now.”
The unidentified man drives a green Jeep Liberty.
