HAMPDEN, Maine — A local woman suffered minor injuries Monday afternoon when she was struck by a car in the Hannaford supermarket parking lot on Western Avenue.
Melanie McGran, 31, of Hampden was taken to St. Joseph Hospital after she complained of pain at the accident scene, Hampden police Officer Ben Eyles said.
Eyles said the accident happened shortly before 3:30 p.m., when McGran was struck by a 1989 Pontiac four-door sedan driven by Dennis Duff, 59, of Corinna. The driver, who was driving west at a low speed, reportedly did not see McGran because his vision was temporarily obscured by the sun, Eyles said.
Eyles also said a witness indicated that McGran was looking down when she was struck.
No charges are anticipated in connection with the accident, he said.
