BRISTOL, Maine — A two-vehicle accident briefly closed Lower Round Pond Road in Bristol just after 8 a.m. Monday.

The male operator of a maroon Chevrolet sport utility vehicle, whose name has not been released, was driving toward Route 32 on Lower Round Pond Road when he lost control of the vehicle.

According to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Matthew Day, Roger Day, 60, was driving a Masters Machine Company box truck toward Route 130 on Lower Round Pond Road. Roger Day noticed the out-of-control SUV and stopped his vehicle. The SUV rolled over and eventually landed upright and struck the box truck.

The driver of the SUV was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, Day said.

According to Matthew Day, speed was likely a factor in the accident.

The Bristol Fire Department and the Central Lincoln County Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
