ROCKLAND, Maine — A third candidate has taken out papers in the race for two open city council seats.
Theodore Berry of Crescent Street took out nomination papers Friday.
He joins former Mayor William Clayton and Comprehensive Planning Committee Chair Valli Geiger, who also have taken out papers.
The two seats are currently held by state Rep. Elizabeth Dickerson, D-Rockland; and Dr. Eric Hebert, who both have announced they will not seek re-election to the council.
The deadline for candidates to file nomination papers with the signatures of 100 registered Rockland residents is Sept. 22.
In the race for one seat to represent Rockland on the Regional School Unit 13 Board, incumbent Carol Bachofner and former board member Kyle Reniche have taken out papers.
