CASTINE, Maine — Jonathan Reeks connected for five goals on Tuesday afternoon to power Maine Maritime Academy to a 5-0 men’s soccer victory over the University of Maine-Presque Isle at Ritchie Field.
Marshall Spear stopped both shots he faced for the Mariners. Caleb Bragg-Grady grabbed 14 saves and Matt Manter made two for the Owls.
UNE 3, Colby 2
At Waterville, Becca Murphy scored the second of her two goals with 9:16 left in the game to lift the University of New England to a 3-2 women’s soccer win over Colby College on Tuesday.
Murphy had snapped a 1-1 tie in the 69th minute for the Nor’easters of Biddeford (5-0). Kara Hecker had the other goal, while Morgan Rodway had an assist. Brielle Robinson and Emily Richard combined to make five shots.
Janie O’Halloran and Maddie Tight scored for 1-3 Colby, with Georgia Lubrano and Cami Notaro notching assists. Emily Brook made six saves.
Field Hockey
USM 11, NEC 1
At Gorham, Peyton Dostie racked up four goals and posted two assists as the Huskies handled the Pilgrims.
Allison Ward registered a hat trick for the University of Southern Maine (3-3), while Kaylie Andrews, Rebecca Pratt, Michaela Demers and Lindsay Jackson chipped in a goal apiece. Amanda Kasbohm made two saves.
Cody Kent scored the goal and Karli Bove came up with 17 saves for 0-8 New England College.
Men’s Soccer
Bowdoin 2, Bates 1
At Brunswick, Eric Goitia scored off assists from Connor Keefe and Ben Citrin at 3:21 of the second overtime, giving the Polar Bears the win over their rival Bobcats.
Keefe had put Bowdoin (2-2, 1-2 NESCAC) in front, scoring off an Andrew Jones assist 12:10 into the contest. Noah Safian made four saves.
Peabo Knoth tallied the goal for Bates College of Lewiston (0-4, 0-3 NESCAC) and Sam Polito finished with four saves.
