AUGUSTA, Maine — An Augusta man was arrested late Monday in connection with a stabbing over the weekend, according to police.

Jason Boucher, 34, is being held without bail at the Kennebec County Jail on a charge of elevated aggravated assault, Deputy Chief Jared Mills of the Augusta Police Department said.

On Saturday night, police were called to an emergency room at an Augusta hospital and found a 42-year-old man with lacerations to his neck, chest and face, according to Mills.

Boucher was identified as a suspect, and Mills said the incident could have been a domestic situation, although the relationship between Boucher and the victim was not disclosed.

On Monday, Boucher was arrested at his apartment on Cedar Street, according to Mills, refusing to come out for about half an hour before officers talked him into surrendering.

Boucher remained in county lockup Tuesday. A court date has not been set.
