LEWISTON, Maine — Police believe the boyfriend of the pregnant woman killed in a hit-and-run accident may be responsible for her death.
Laudrinha Kubeloso, 32, was struck while walking down Howe Street on Tuesday afternoon, according to a release from Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.
Kubeloso, who moved from Angola to Lewiston during the past year, died after she was brought to a Lewiston hospital.
Police are searching for a 2001 blue Suzuki sport utility vehicle with Maine license plates that read 6593 UJ. Police believe the car was driven by the woman’s boyfriend, 33-year-old Evaristo Deus, McCausland said in the release. Deus is described as 5′ 8″, 160 pounds and black; he lives at 37 Union St. in Lewiston.
