BANGOR — The Bangor Community Chorus is entering its 45th season, and is welcoming new members. There are no tryouts. Singers meet for open rehearsal at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays, at the United Methodist Church on Essex Street.

Art workshop for children

BANGOR — University of Maine Museum of Art announces that it will host the Art Explorations Workshop with instructor Eva Wagner 3:45-4:45 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, Oct. 7 through Nov. 20. This workshop is designed for children in grades three through six. Art Wagner said the workshop will encourage creativity and self-expression through fun, engaging art projects. Children will explore the galleries for inspiration and create their own art work in the studio. They will investigate a variety of methods and materials.

The cost is $65 museum members or students with a UMaine I.D., $75 others.

ARTinME Exhibit

ORONO — Boothbay Region Art Foundation, sponsor of the fifth annual ARTinME Exhibit, announced that the judge for the show will be Kerstin Engman, assistant professor of art at the University of Maine.

ARTinME will present a selective look at the fine art produced by Maine artists today. Monetary prizes amounting to $1,500 will be awarded.

There is a limit of two entries per artist; entry fee is $15 per entry to foundation members and $20 per entry to others.

Delivery of artwork will take place noon 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, 9 a.m.-noon Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the foundation’s gallery, One Townsend Avenue, Boothbay Harbor.

ARTinME will open with a gala reception and presentation of awards on Saturday, Oct. 18.

Gilbert and Sullivan Society

AREA — Actors, singers, and lovers of operetta are invited to join the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Maine’s 38th season production of “Yeomen of the Guard.” Those interested in joining the company should attend the first rehearsal 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, City Hall, Ellsworth. Auditions for principal roles will be announced in subsequent rehearsals. Performances will be Feb. 6-8 at the Grand Auditorium, Ellsworth. For information, call 735-4657.
