PROSPECT — Prospect Days will be held Saturday, Oct. 4, to celebrate the town’s 220th birthday.

The schedule is:

• A parade will start the day at 9:30 a.m.,one-half mile south of the center of town followed.

• An Open House at the Marsh School, a one-room schoolhouse, recently placed on the National Register of Historic Places, will begin at 9 a.m.

• Bean hole bean demonstration, children’s games, cider pressing (bring your own apples and containers), food sale and farmers market by the Community Building, all starting at 10:30 a.m.

• Horse and wagon rides near Boynton’s field at 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

• Ride with Eddie Harriman to the top of Eustis Mountain. Meet at Blanket Lane, 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Plenty of parking, with lemonade and cookies at the top, views as far away as Vinalhaven.

• Music by Doug Alley and the Original Condition at the fire station, firemen manning grills for hot dogs and hamburger, ice cream machine by Mike Thibodeau, bean hole beans served by David Terry, 11 a.m.

• Horse shoe tournament with three trophies  awarded and a large pizza with toppings of champion’s choice donated by Maddie’s Place, 1-2 p.m.

• Fireworks will go off at 7 p.m. by Boynton’s Farm Pond. Tickets are being sold at the Town Office and will be available at Marsh School, the fire station and the Community Club dining room the day of the event. At a cost of  three tickets for $1 or 50 cents each, the winner will push the button to set off the fireworks.

In the afternoon, attendees can tour Fort Knox or hold a family reunion picnic.

The celebration is open to everyone.

Prospect Days is sponsored by the Prospect Historical Society, Prospect Community Club and the Prospect Fire Department to the benefit the restoration of on the Marsh School.
