UNION, Maine — A 36-year-old Union man is behind bars after police said he threatened to kill his longtime girlfriend.
Michael G. Feeley was arrested Sunday morning at the residence he shared with the victim. He was taken to the Knox County Jail in Rockland and remained there Monday afternoon, unable to make the $500 cash bail. He was charged with domestic violence assault, domestic violence criminal threatening, domestic violence terrorizing and criminal mischief.
The woman told police that she had come home from work and Feeley was intoxicated. He allegedly accused her of cheating on him because she arrived from work later than he had anticipated. She also had refused to bring home more alcohol for him, according to the affidavit filed by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, which responded to the call.
The woman said that he threatened to put a bullet in her head, according to the police affidavit. He said that this could become an episode in the television show “Snapped,” the affidavit stated.
The woman reportedly went outside and slept in her car all night. Police said that when she went inside the next morning, she found glassware that had belonged to her mother broken and strewn across the floors. She told him to clean up the mess, and he refused and pushed her, according to police.
When questioned by police, he denied assaulting her or breaking the glassware. He also denied threatening to shoot her and said he had no access to weapons, police said. Six rifles were found in a locked cabinet in the home, according to the affidavit.
Feeley was scheduled to make an initial court appearance Monday afternoon in Rockland District Court.
