CORINNA, Maine — Officials are investigating an incident in which five pit bulls attacked a basset hound on Friday night on Nokomis Road.
Four of the offending dogs were quarantined, while one was killed at the scene by a neighbor, according to Corinna Animal Control Officer Charles Gould.
Gould could not disclose too much information, citing an open investigation, but he said the basset hound survived and the pit bulls will not be going back to their owner.
Charges are likely to be filed, he added.
Gould said he is working with the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office on the case.
