FARMINGTON, Maine – Maddie Tight’s goal at the 27-minute mark lifted the Colby College Mules to a 1-0 women’s soccer victory over the University of Maine-Farmington Beavers Tuesday.

Tight trapped the ball, made the UMF defense shift direction, and booted a liner past UMF goalie Sam Hatch into the top right corner.

Hatch finished with 15 saves for UMF (2-6) and Emily Brook made five saves for Colby.

Bowdoin 3, USM 0

At Gorham, Kiersten Turner and Jamie Hofstetter each recorded a goal and assist to propel Bowdoin by the University of Southern Maine.

Turner and Hofstetter each scored a first-half goal for Bowdoin and Hofstetter sent a through ball on the left side to a wide-open Julia Bottone, who scored.

Marissa Temple made 16 saves for USM (2-8-1) and Bridget McCarthy made two for Bowdoin (7-1).

Field Hockey

USM 2, Salem St. 1

At Salem, Massachusetts, Michaela Demers’ goal at 4:42 into overtime lifted the University of Southern Maine over Salem State.

Kelsey Russell scored for Salem State in the 20th minute of the first half and Allison Ward tied it for USM at the 65th minute in the second half when she converted a Peyton Dostie assist.

Carolyn Woodin made eight saves for Salem State (1-8, 0-4 Little East) and Amanda Kasbohm made two for USM (5-5, 2-2).
