ORLAND, Maine — A Castine man was injured Tuesday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash on Bucksport Road.
The accident happened shortly after 12:30 p.m. when Andrew Wescott, 25, who was headed east, failed to negotiate the corner near the former Duffy’s Restaurant, Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputy Luke Gross said Wednesday.
Wescott’s 1997 Lincoln Continental then left the roadway and struck ledge, Gross said.
Wescott, who was injured in the crash, was taken to a local hospital for treatment, Gross said. Wescott’s injuries were not considered life-threatening. His car, however, was demolished.
Gross said that speed and lack of seat belt use appear to be contributing factors. He said the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Orland Fire Department, Bucksport Fire Department and Bucksport Ambulance.
