LIMERICK, Maine — A woman who reported to police she was abducted was charged after officers learned it never happened.
Fredette Hockman, 38, of Limerick claimed she had been abducted by two college-aged men in Limerick last month, according to Chief Deputy William King of the York County Sheriff’s Office.
During the investigation, deputies conducted numerous interviews and reviewed several security tapes in the area, King said, and it became clear Hockman’s story seemed to be implausible.
On Sunday, Hockman was interviewed by deputies with information gained from the investigation, and she admitted she made up the story, King said.
Hockman was summoned for filing a false public alarm or report, a Class D misdemeanor, and was given a Dec. 23 court date.
