Ernie Clark has rounded the halfway mark in the BDN Football Forecast

and continues to set a strong pace among staffers. Clark went 17-3 last week to stretch his advantage to two games over Larry Mahoney, who logged a 16-4 card.

John Holyoke also went 17-3 and moved up to third place, three games out of first, while Joe McLaughlin’s 14-6 dropped him back to four games behind.

Guest Jason Brooks of Holden, the co-owner of Pine Hill Golf Course in Brewer, had a commendable 15-5 effort.

This week’s guest is Bangor native Ryan Jones.

Jones is a baseball and softball instructor at The Edge Academy in Portland, where he has worked since 2008. He also works during the summer in the pro shop at Sable Oaks

Golf Course in South Portland.

Jones has been the varsity baseball coach at Scarborough High School for the last two years.

Jones is a 2006 graduate of Bangor High School, where he played baseball and golf.

He also attends the University of Southern Maine in Gorham, where he played two seasons on the baseball team. He is working to complete his degree in business, with a concentration in sport management.

Jones lives in Portland.
