PERU, Maine — A woman was found dead in the kitchen of a home on Main Street on Saturday morning, Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesman Stephen McCausland said in a statement. Police are calling the death suspicious and have launched an investigation.
The woman, identified by police as 57-year-old Paula Nuttall, lived in the house with four family members.
McCausland said a male family member was taken from the scene and is being treated at a hospital for injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
At 2:30 p.m. Saturday, detectives were on their way to the scene to begin the investigation. Police do not believe anyone else other than the man was involved in the incident.
An autopsy likely will take place Sunday, McCausland said.
