Traditionally, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, designed to remind people to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages while encouraging others to do the same.
“We have a team every year in the Komen Race for the Cure because breast cancer — and cancer in general — is something that affects everyone,” said Jose Flores, general manager at Hollywood Casino Hotel and Raceway. Throughout the month, Hollywood Casino will sell “Hollywood Strong” T-shirts in the gift shop, with proceeds donated to the Maine Breast Cancer Coalition and the BRA organization. In addition, Hollywood Casino has placed a “Tito’s for Tata’s” donation box on the gaming floor allowing patrons to donate their “Tito” tickets to the cause.
