BELGRADE, Maine — A Messalonskee High School student injured in a hayride accident that claimed the life of his girlfriend last weekend has been released from a Boston hospital, according to family members.

Connor Garland, 16, was released from Boston Children’s Hospital on Thursday, according to a posting on a Facebook page set up by family members.

Garland was among 22 people who were injured when a Jeep pulling a hay wagon in Mechanic Falls lost control and the hay wagon tumbled down a hill on Saturday at Harvest Hill Farms.

Cassidy Charette, 17, a member of the Oakland high school’s varsity soccer team, was killed in the accident.

Investigators are looking into a possible mechanical failure with the Jeep.
