ROCKLAND, Maine — Two men were arrested Thursday following an alleged drug bust.
Thomas Boynton, 21, and Jacob Ortiz, 20, both of Rockland, were arrested by officers with the Rockland Police Department, Maine State Police and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, according to a news release from the agencies. Boynton was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of hypodermic needles. Ortiz was charged with possession of cocaine and violating a condition of release.
According to the release, police observed Ortiz acting in a suspicious way on West Meadow Road. He was on bail after being charged Oct. 3 for possession of suboxone following a raid at a home in Cushing.
When officers approached Ortiz on Thursday, he ran and hid inside a house. He later came out of the house and upon an investigation, agents seized small bags of cocaine reportedly belonging to the two men. Boynton lived at the residence.
They were taken to the Knox County Jail in Rockland. A jail officer said Friday the two men were no longer at the jail.
