ELLSWORTH, Maine — Three people accused of being involved in a local methamphetamine operation that police busted this past summer were among 15 people indicted last week in Hancock County.
Also indicted was a former furniture store employee accused of stealing from his employer.
Jack G. Lint, 35, of Dixmont, Bridgett L. Spencer, 30, of Bangor, and Karen B. Ward, 51, of Ellsworth each were indicted Oct. 9 on the Class B charge of unlawful trafficking in drugs in connection with a June 4 drug bust on Spruce Street in downtown Ellsworth. Lint and Spencer also were charged with the Class C crime of unlawful possession of drugs.
According to police, officers with several public safety agencies executed a search warrant at the property, which includes a pizza shop, after receiving a tip. Police collected a substantial amount of evidence that indicated a “one pot” or “shake and bake” method of manufacturing meth had been used at the property, according to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
In Maine, Class B crimes are punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $20,000.
A Hancock man accused of robbing an Ellsworth supermarket of drugs also was indicted Oct. 9 by a Hancock County grand jury on two Class B charges of robbery and one Class C count of stealing drugs. Class C crimes are punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
Bruce A. Wilbur, 23, is accused of going into Shaw’s Supermarket on High Street on March 31 and handing a pharmacy clerk a note demanding prescription medication. His face was partially covered by clothing during the robbery, police have said.
After the robber was given some pills, he allegedly ran out around the back of the store and got away. Wilbur was identified through surveillance camera footage and, after he went to local police to talk to them about it, he confessed to the robbery, police have said.
Also indicted last week was Brian S. Adaska, 33, of Trenton on a Class C felony theft charge.
According to Ellsworth police, Adaska is accused of improperly using a credit card issued to his former employer, the now-defunct Mill Mall Furniture, to make unauthorized purchases for himself. He also is accused of taking furniture from the store without paying any money for it, police have said.
Between the alleged credit card misuse and theft of furniture, the former furniture store manager is accused of stealing $11,756.60 from the business, Ellsworth police previously indicated.
