Device workshops
U.S. Cellular will host a free Device Workshop 8-9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at Mid Mall Boulevard in Bangor, where current or potential smartphone users can ask questions and learn about any device they are interested in. The workshop is open to everyone, and attendees don’t have to be a U.S. Cellular customer to attend.

Fundraiser
As part of the annual Ronald McDonald House Charities Day of Change, McDonald’s across Maine and New Hampshire are asking customers and supporters of RMHC to drop spare change into donation boxes located at the front counters and drive-thrus of participating McDonald’s restaurants.
Customers in Maine, New Hampshire and nationwide are encouraged to wear red and white stripes, like the iconic socks worn by Ronald McDonald, and share their stories on social media by using the hashtag #forRMHC.
Donations given by customers visiting restaurants or drive-thrus will support core family-centered programs in the United States, such as Ronald McDonald Houses that serve as a “home away from home” for families with sick children to enable families to stay together, providing comfort, stability and significant cost savings in travel, accommodations and meals. Maine has two Ronald McDonald Houses, one in Portland and one in Bangor, as well as a Ronald McDonald Family Room at Maine Medical Center in Portland, and Eastern Maine Medical Center Children’s Cancer and Treatment Center located at the LaFayette Family Cancer Center in Brewer.

Contest finalist
HERMON — Katrina Benjamin of Hermon is a finalist in Eggland’s Best Eggs Your Best Recipe contest, the company announced in a press release.
Benjamin entered the contest hoping to win the grand prize $10,000. She is a home cook who enjoys creating and publishing recipes online, and entering contests.
Vote for her recipe, Italian Vegetable and Three Cheese Tart, now through Friday, Oct. 31, at egglandsbesteggs.com. The finalist with the most votes will win a $1,000 fan favorite award.
